May 4, 2022: 100th Birthday of Alex Randolph
100 years ago today, the pioneer of modern game designers, Alex Randolph, was born in Bohemia. His passion belonged to chess, but games like Twixt, Tempo kleine Schnecke, Sagaland, Hol's der Geier and Rüsselbande made him famous. In 1991, he was one of the founders of the Game Designers Association, which after his death from 2004 to 2015 awarded journalists with a media prize bearing his name.
On the occasion of his 100th birthday, the German Games Archive will be exhibiting part of his extensive estate, including artisan prototypes of his classic games, in the foyer of the Pellerhaus from 7th Mai till end of the year. An accompanying program of guided tours, game activities, and creative workshops all about game invention is also planned. Further information on the exhibition can be found here.
